Postponement statement

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the postponement of OMS6 to April 2024. This has been decided after extensive discussions with my organising team, the artists and their management.

I have always been honest with you all so for the sake of transparency I’d like to fully explain the reasons this decision has been made:

OMS always has and always will be a unique event that raises money for charity and after looking at the numbers this year this was simply not going to happen for a number of reasons.

We have not sold as many tickets as usual due to a combination of cost of living/inflation increases, the soaring cost of travel & some people not wanting to travel still post covid. In addition, we have had a considerable number of people who did purchase tickets that have informed us they can no longer attend due to financial constraints as well as a number of people that were intending buying tickets this year that can no longer attend for the same reason. This leaves us in a difficult position for 2 reasons.

1) the ticket sales pay for the artists, the hotel, the travel, sound & lighting etc (basically everything in order to make it work)

2) we also need to sell a certain number of rooms at the hotel otherwise we will be charged a higher rate for the facilities.

On top of the decreased ticket sales our costs have spiralled because of the pound/dollar exchange rate, increased flight prices and additional hotel fees amongst many other things

Current sales do not cover our current costs and as we are a non-profit event we don’t have spare cash in the bank for this eventuality. We don’t have any way to cut costs as they are already as low as we can make them - E.g. All the organisers and stewards volunteer their time, pay their own way and even use their own cars to transport the artists - & we already have attendees who donate some of the prizes towards the raffle/auction.

Changing the format of the event would change the feel and atmosphere of it, something we have worked so hard to build over the years.

The financial pressures on many people also has further knock on effects as they don’t have the money to buy as many photo ops, autographs, raffle tickets, auctions and merchandise all of which are the mainstays of the charity fund raising (once expenses such as the photographer are removed). Simply put, we would not raise any money for charity and would be in serious danger of losing a considerable sum of money personally, and therefore OMS would not be able to continue in the future. We hope that by postponing until 2024 the financial climate will be much improved and we can once again welcome the OMS family to the type of event we have become known for.

We are passionate about, and committed to, One More Shot so this decision has not been taken lightly. We are still talking to the artists about possible dates for April 2024 and will communicate these as soon as possible. All tickets will remain valid for the new dates, even if you’ve previously informed us you would not be attending this year.

Please, please continue to support our guest artists in the meantime by buying their music and merch and, whenever possible, attending their scheduled gigs. They all give so much to OMS that it's only right we give back when we can. Two of our own, Dean Roberts and Stewart Mac both have gigs coming up in March and would love to see you there.

With love & gratitude,

Rach
